Sometimes it seems like the ultra rich live in an alternate universe from regular folks. Jobs are less of a necessity and more of a passion. College tuition is fully paid for. Last-minute vacations are the norm.

We took to Reddit to discover some things that wealthy people consider normal. From three-martini lunches to flying first class, here are 15 things the average person doesn’t have access to on a daily basis.

1. Spontaneity

2. Wine Lists

“I’ve ate at some fancy restaurants before, but I’d like to know who those wine lists are made for lol. I could fund a few months traveling with what it appears to be just the drink with an evening meal for some folks.” u/HasLab_LovesTravel

3. Elite Social Networks

“Small example: ‘My son just graduated college with a degree in blah blah, and my good golf buddy owns a blah blah firm. I’ll ask if he has a summer internship opening.'” u/pug_fugly_moe

“The truly wealthy are never flashy about it, as it makes them a target, but they will often wear decent clothes that have been fitted for them specifically.” u/captaintrips_1980

5. Minimalism

6. Customization

“Getting custom builds for things that require an expert in the field. Getting a custom chair made by a chairbler, or getting a custom guitar made by a luthier.” u/Ranger_Chowdown

7. Casual Addictions

“Like having 3+ martini lunches every day, but no one bats an eye cause you’re an executive. Of course, you’re unwinding throughout the day. Or how we just took it in stride that high-powered investment bankers are high, basically 24/7.” u/GodzillaDrinks

8. A Second Chance

“Rich college kid gets caught in a drug bust and goes to rehab, comes out and ‘everyone deserves a second chance.’ Poor college kid gets caught with the exact same amount of the same drug and they spend the rest of their life struggling to find decent employment due to a criminal record. Because they cannot afford to go back to continue their education whilst also being able to afford both shelter and food.” u/Unhappy-Professor-88

9. Living Wherever You Want

“No need to consider job implications, school zones, the logistics and costs of the actual moving (selling a house, traveling to find your new home, paying for movers or renting UHaul trucks to do it yourself). Not to mention the potential cost of deciding you don’t like your new city/country and wanting to move again.” u/__gingerly

10. Having a Personal Chef or Housekeeper

“For many wealthy people, it’s just a regular part of their lives, but it can be eye-opening to realize how much time and stress it alleviates compared to the everyday experience of cooking or cleaning for oneself. It’s something that often goes unnoticed as a “rich people” privilege because it’s just integrated into their routine.” u/RealSalad8412

11. Leaving Furniture Behind

“My aunt is very financially comfortable. She and my uncle have lived in three different homes in my lifetime and every time they leave their furniture behind. She says that a new house is the perfect chance for something different. Imagine furnishing an entire home every time you move.” – u/jsoto09

12. Yard Maintenance

“If you look at the backgrounds of many artists, writers, actors, filmmakers they often come from wealth. Surviving as a starving artist is getting harder and harder.” u/benjampo

“Money buys time when you don’t have to do laundry, or clean the house, or the cars, or deal with pets, or even your kids. People can come to you at your leisure. Doctors, hair, nails, massages, delivers, everything. Homes are bought for you. Everything is facilitated with extreme generational wealth.” u/Robotron713
