Glassdoor Names Best Jobs Of 2022 – Top-Rated Career Makes $145,000 And You May Never Have Heard Of It
Glassdoor recently released its list of the best jobs of 2022. The top-rated career named by the employment website is one that you may have never heard of.
The most desirable job in America is an enterprise architect – which has a salary of nearly $145,000, a job satisfaction rating of 4.1 out of 5, and there are over 14,000 job openings.
Techopedia defines an “enterprise architect” as a “specialist that works closely with stakeholders, including management and subject matter experts (SME), to develop a view of an organization’s strategy, information, processes, and IT assets. An EA is responsible for using this knowledge to ensure IT and business alignment.”
According to the outlet, an enterprise architect “connects an organization’s business mission, methodology and processes to its IT strategy and established in-depth documentation with the help of an array of architectural models, or views, which provide a picture of how an organization’s existing and future requirements may be accomplished in an effective, agile, sustainable and flexible manner.”
“The most obvious theme in this year’s rankings is that tech jobs dominate the list,” Glassdoor senior economist Daniel Zhao told CBS MoneyWatch. “Nowadays, every company is a tech company. Every business needs to invest in technology and data to operate in the 21st century, and that keeps demand for these roles very high.”
“They help with technology and strategic decisions around managing a company’s IT infrastructure,” Zhao continued. “That’s increasingly important in today’s environment because workforces are distributed all over the place because of pandemic. That increased demand for enterprise architects from employers.”
During the Great Resignation, the highest-paid profession on Glassdoor’s list is psychiatrists – who have a median base salary of $252,385.
“Psychiatry, and health care professions more broadly, tend to pay well, given that they require a significant amount of education and training,” Zhao added.
“Candidates are looking for companies that have values that match their ideals,” David Napeloni – vice president of global client services at Korn Ferry – told Forbes. “A lot of candidates out there are looking for companies that are offering flexibility, not having to be in the office again five days a week or being totally remote and being able to live in another part of the country, which I think we’ve seen over the course of the last couple years.”
Of the top 50 jobs of 2022, almost all were in tech or in the medical fields.
