Who doesn’t want to earn extra money online without having to put in much effort?
If you’re looking to increase income, an excellent method to do so is by investing in passive income opportunitiesA service like Packstream can provide individuals with completely passive income that only requires loading up software one time and no additional effort beyond that.
Is this a “get rich quick” scam or is it legit? And realistically, what kind of money can you make each month?
If this sounds interesting to you, then don’t click away. We’re doing a PacketStream review to give you a comprehensive breakdown so you can understand if it’s worth exploring.
What is PacketStream?
PacketStream is a peer-to-peer proxy network (based out of Los Angeles, California), that enables individuals to share their bandwidth with others for a small price.
So what does that actually mean and why is this interesting?
Well, let’s say you’re in Canada and want to watch some internet content that is only shown in the US. If you were to log in directly from your computer, the receiving servers will note that your IP address is outside the U.S. and you would receive a message saying the content is not available in your location. Something like this:
Well, Packetstream.io, allows you to leverage the connections of other users globally (such as in local markets of the content you want to see). By doing so, users worldwide gain access to content all over the internet.
Unlike other VPN or Bandwidth services, PacketStream ensures that the website includes HTTP request is being made by actual IP addresses and not fake ones. This ensures the customer won’t be blocked or be caught using VPN or other types of proxy networks.
If you’re selling your bandwidth, PacketStream maintains your privacy and security. It can be intimidating to share your personal IP address with someone, so the company keeps everything encrypted and with the proper security protocols on all IP bandwidth services.
This both prevents security breaches and protects both customer and seller data. You will not see what the customer is doing, and the customer will not be able to tell who you are.
How does PacketStream Provide Passive Income?
Each customer can either purchase or sell bandwidth and browse the web using someone else’s IP anonymously.
If you’d like to earn passive income, you can become a Packeter member and sell your bandwidth. The advertised rate on their site is $0.10 per GB. At least that’s how much they state on their website.
In researching the article, we found payouts can vary greatly. This makes sense as a 2-sided marketplace, supply and demand will play a big role in what you can earn. Other factors such as available bandwidth and the bandwidth speed from your provider will impact what you can earn.
For example, one UK based user stated they made no money in the first 2 weeks and then just pennies per day after that. Another user made $1 in their first 24-hours and then another $3 over the following month. Another user only made an average of 4 cents per day.
What are some drawbacks?
The number one drawback that we’ve seen with the product is that it can slow down your own internet connect. This make sense. If you’re sharing your connection with a number of other folks, naturally, the bandwidth will be split and you’ll feel an impact. The way around this is to set up Packetstream to only allow users when you’re not using your internet. So if it’s 4am and you’re sleeping, why not have it run in the background.
The other issue is really how little payout you get. Now, in all fairness, the platform has been in beta so the payouts are less than what they will be eventually. The team needs to continue to advertise it’s services in order to gain more customer so that users can have their bandwidth utilized at a higher rate to earn more.
We have also read that customer service is lacking and some payments need to be chased. Although we haven’t experienced this ourselves, we have read this on a number of threads online. Again, I give Packetstream a bit of a pass on this as it’s still early days and they are a small team. But if things don’t improve as they start to grow, it could be their demise.
So, is PacketStream Legitimate?
Seeing as there’s plenty of user reviews online and that some people are making money, it is definitely 100% legitimate. You can absolutely start earning money by reselling your bandwidth and it is as passive as passive income can get.
The site has a really solid FAQ and “learn more” section so you can get a bit more detail on what it takes to set up and when you start getting paid. When you’re ready, just click the “earn money” button
Now, although the service is legitimate, the question is, is it worth the hassle. I think over time, this could become a platform to make a few bucks a month for you without doing much work or feeling any real impact. I just think it’s early days and expect improvement over time.
Are There Any Alternatives?
There are no real alternatives to sell your bandwidth in the same format as packetstream.io. so if you’re looking for a way to monetize your bandwidth, you’re out of luck for now.
If you’re looking for alternatives to get access to content globally, there are VPN options that can help mask your location to get more access. Have a look at this article.
In the search of passive income, Packetstream.io does come up as option. It truly is a hands off platform that provides recurring revenue. The issue, the revenue is very low…for now.
We do believe that demand will go up as the platform creates a larger presence for itself and at that point, revenue amounts should be higher. Is there a benefit of joining now and riding the wave as this becomes more popular? That’s for each person to decide individually. It is a viable option as a passive income platform for late 2020.
Hopefully, our PacketStream review provided some insight to help you determine if the platform is right for you.
