It’s wild to leave a career path that was already bringing in massive amounts of riches. Yet, here we are. These child stars were able to dip out of Hollywood and then accrue even more wealth as a result. It must be some kind of magic to see your wealth continue to grow after you choose to walk away from what was generating it, with no kind of plan about how things could and/or should go. Pretty neat.
1. Brock Pierce, $700 million-$1 billion

Following The Mighty Ducks, Pierce moved from cryptocurrency ventures like Blockchain Capital and Tether. Clearly, things were set to shake out financially favorably for a good stretch of time.
2. Jessica Alba, around $60 million

Jessica Alba was able to co-found Honest, which ended up going public in 2021 as well. Forbes reported that her stake, which included options, ended up at around 6% around the IPO.
3. Christina Aguilera, $200 million

Wow, a former Mickey Mouse Club performer, Aguilera would go on to build a recording career and then later became a coach on The Voice. Both her fragrances and other partnerships would offer a stronger business angle than the unfounded claims about how much she earned from any particular venture.
4. Kathy Ireland, around $400 million in 2015

Ireland went from a career in modeling with occasional acting to a licensing company. Forbes plotted her estimated fortunate around $420 million in 2015. This is largely from Kathy Ireland Worldwide. One of the most pronounced wealth pivots here, though, is that the estimate is dated. So who really knows how much more wealth she could’ve accrued since then, too.
5. Jessica Simpson, around $30 million

Simpson’s fashion collection went on to grow into a far larger business story than just Newlyweds or just her acting roles. Forbes in previous days estimated that her royalty fees were near $30 million. She would later fight to regain ownership of the brand. Her actual music comeback also means “left.” This refers to her elongated break, and not her permanent retirement.

6. Lauren Conrad, around $40 million

Lauren Conrad actually left The Hills in 2009 and then established an impressive, long-running LC Lauren Conrad line at Kohl’s. Kohl’s still refers to it as one of its important house brands. It’s a through-and-through, fame-to-business story. Even though her personal proceeds are private.
7. Kristin Cavallari, $50 million

Turned Laguna Beach and then The Hills fame into Uncommon James. She said the business actually approaches $50 million in annual revenue.
8. Bethany Frankel, $55 million

Her Skinnygirl deal is a fortified financial hook and stronger than most reality TV pivots. Forbes indeed estimated $55 million in earnings over 12 months around the cocktail brand’s sale. However, the precise sale economics have been disputed.

9. Eve Mendes, $7 million

Mendes has steered clear of film roles since Lost River, while working in fashion and then becoming a co-owner of cleaning brand Skura Style. Forbes would estimate $7 million in company revenue for 2023. She’s explicitly said she never quit acting, so use “stepped back.”
10. Gwyneth Paltrow, $200-$275 million

Gwyneth Paltrow actually put acting on the back burner to run Goop. This raised funding at a reported $250 million valuation in 2018. She would then return to film in Marty Supreme, but still made the whole “stepped away” the accurate phrase.
11. Ellen DeGeneres, $500 million

Ellen, as many know, ended her long-running talk show and then continued her significant real estate business. One of those Montecito-area properties of hers reportedly ended up being sold in 2024 for $26 million above its purchase price.
12. Nicole Richie, $40 million

Shifted beyond The Simple Life with House of Harlow 1960, the actual fashion pivot is well documented. Ritchie is one of those names that plenty of people know.
13. Tyra Banks, right around $90 million

Tyra Banks actually left Dancing with the Stars hosting and then relocated to Australia to build SMiZE & DREAM ice cream. The rest was nothing short of a journey in abundance from there.
14. Reese Witherspoon, around $400-$440 million

Reese Witherspoon sold off a majority stake in Hello Sunshine dating back to 2021 in a deal that had a reported $900 million attached to it too. Paltrow also still acts, and the company remains in entertainment too.
