15 Expensive Nutcrackers That Put Our Basic Ones to Shame
Nutcrackers are a timeless holiday decoration that are highly collectible. There are so many different iterations, from classic Christmas characters like Santa Claus and gingerbread men, to characters from movies and TV shows. Some are several cuts above the rest, though, going for thousands (and even tens of thousands) of dollars.
Here are the most expensive nutcrackers we could find.
1. Herend Nutcracker With Candy Cane
Price: $2,345
Many of the priciest nutcrackers on this list get their sky-high price tags from being over-sized. Not this little guy. He’s only 8.5 inches tall, but because he’s handcrafted, he’s expensive. This particular nutcracker is made with porcelain from Europe’s biggest porcelain manufacturer and features a meticulously executed design with Herend’s trademark fishnet pattern.
2. Swarovski Holiday Cheers Nutcracker
Price: $1,100
Swarovski has turned just about everything into crystal figurines, and the Nutcracker is no exception. This crystal nutcracker is particularly beautiful because of the vibrant colors in its coat. The fabric white beard makes this figure all the more charming, unique, and worthy of a price tag surpassing $1,000.
3. Christian Ulbricht Extra-Large Santa Nutcracker
Price: $1,546
Handmade in Germany, this authentic, handcrafted nutcracker stands nearly 3 feet tall. Its classic Santa look comes complete with a burlap sack, which, despite the high price, does not come with additional gifts inside.
4. Multi-Lights 9-Foot Nutcracker
Price: $7,593
Bed Bath & Beyond’s take on the Nutcracker involves tons of festive LED lights. This is more of an outdoor decoration than your typical nutcracker, and it comes with a much steeper price tag. If you don’t want to shell out nearly $8,000 for the 9-foot version, you can go for the more modest 6-footer at $3,300.
5. Extra-Large German Drummer Nutcracker
Price: $1,395
We’re not trying to knock Convivo Bookworks here, we’re just saying their definition of “jumbo” falls a little short (literally) of some of the other giant nutcrackers in this round-up. The description for this German nutcracker uses words like “extra-large” and stresses how big this thing is, only to throw in the fact that it’s a measly 28 inches tall. It does weigh a whopping 13 pounds though, so you know it’s solid and made out of quality materials. You know, if you need a reason to drop almost $1,400 on a nutcracker in the name of the holidays.
6. Mark Roberts 82-inch Christmas Nutcracker
Price: $2,930
82 inches tall. 63 pounds. Have mercy. The folks writing the product descriptions over at Convivo Bookworks need to touch base with Bergdorf Goodman, because this nutcracker is truly jumbo. Handcrafted with polyresin, polyester, and PVC, this nutcracker is so limited-edition that it comes with a certificate of authenticity and a registration card.
7. 9-Foot Giant LED Nutcracker
Price: $3,600
Between the LED lights, the regal appearance, and the weather-resistant composition, these 9-foot nutcrackers were designed to be an outdoor decoration, dwarfing your front door.
8. 11-Foot Red & Blue Nutcracker
Price: $4,295
If you’re looking for your own Yuletide version of the guards at Buckingham Palace to flank your front door, the Christmas Palace has you covered. At a neck-breaking 11-feet tall, these nutcrackers are truly massive.
9. Sweet Shoppe 5-Foot Candy Nutcracker
Price: $2,195
Whimsical, adorable, and perfectly sized at 5 feet tall (just one inch shy of this teeny tiny writer’s height), this candy-themed nutcracker is made out of durable resin. Because of its size, the nutcracker has to be shipped on a FedEx truck with a liftgate, so you should only buy this one if you live on a road that’s accessible for large trucks (how’s that for a disclaimer in the product description?).
10. 12-Foot Black & White Checkered Nutcracker
Price: $3,850
In case you’re in the market for a TWELVE FOOT nutcracker (sheesh), Lee Display has just the guy for you. He’s got a simple black-and-white checkered design and is made out of fiberglass. Oh, and this thing weighs an astounding 375 pounds. In case you don’t want to commit to purchasing it outright, Lee Display also offers the option to rent this behemoth.
11. 8-Foot Red & Green Multi LED Nutcracker
Price: $3,800
Who doesn’t love a good red and green color scheme on a nutcracker? This one exudes classic Christmas vibes, and the LED lights throughout are a nice touch. It’s 8 feet tall and made out of fiberglass, so it’s also built to last.
12. Christmas Vacation Shellcracker
Price: $3,100
This “nutcracker” (are we allowed to call it that?) is so uniquely designed and on-theme with the seashell motif that Casa Branca calls it a “shellcracker” instead. The 27-inch-tall shellcracker is handcrafted with urchins, sea fans, coral, Swarovski crystals, and shells. As if it wasn’t delicate enough, some of the finer details include Venetian paper and stick bug wings for the cracker’s eyebrows.
13. Winter Nutcracker
Price: $3,115
Another 8-footer, this winter-themed nutcracker is made with polyresin and fiberglass and is UV stabilized to boot (an obvious requirement for a nutcracker).
14. Design Toscano Super-Scaled Holiday Nutcracker Statue
Price: $6,554
This 12-foot, hand-painted nutcracker is the real deal, made out of fiberglass and influenced by authentic Bavarian nutcrackers. When it’s shipped, it arrives in five pieces, so you don’t have to worry about pulling a 12-foot giant out of the box all in one piece.
15. Harrod’s Giant Crystal Nutcracker
Price: $35,000
So, we’re using the words “giant” and “65cm” all in one product title, unironically? Alrighty then. Still, it doesn’t take much more than 2-feet of crystals to rack up the price, since this see-through nutcracker is the cost of a brand-new vehicle.
