Many of the world’s most successful companies began with little more than a great idea and a small workspace. Before becoming household names, their founders worked from garages, backyard workshops, or simple home setups while trying to turn ambitious ideas into reality.

Although the famous “garage startup” story has become part of Silicon Valley folklore, these companies genuinely started with modest resources before growing into businesses worth billions. Their early beginnings remain some of the most inspiring stories in entrepreneurship.

1. Apple
