11 Insanely Expensive Things We Can’t Believe Are Sold on Amazon
Love it or hate it, Amazon has become a vital resource for finding affordable products that you can get delivered in a hurry — regardless of your economic status. Running out of toilet paper? Order it on Amazon. Need an incredibly creepy squirrel finger puppet by tomorrow? Click.
Turns out, the ultra-wealthy can score big on Amazon, too, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on sports memorabilia, rare coins, and sneakers. Because if you’re going to buy a $1.4 million baseball, you might as well have it casually dropped off on your doorstep.
1. Josh Gibson Signed Baseball
Is it? Is it really the only one? For over $1.4 million, it better be. To get a sense of just how far this baseball is from the average Amazon shopper’s grasp, read the reviews. “The ball arrived quite dirty, looking like it had been used,” writes one reviewer. “I was going to send it back, but after some brisk scrubbing with brillo pads, it looks brand new. I was even able to get rid of that guy’s name written on it.” Touché.
2. 1886 O American Silver Morgan Dollar
“Cool paperweight,” writes one Amazon reviewer. Couldn’t agree more. At $288,000, this 1886 silver dollar is totally worth a few years of tuition at an Ivy League university, am I right?
3. Kobe Bryant 2012 Playoffs Game Used Signed Sneakers
Ordering Kobe Bryant’s $86,000 used sneakers from Amazon, of all places, feels so wrong. But I guess some people have a cool $80k to throw around? Let’s just hope these babies don’t get lost in the mail.
4. Ladies Round Cut Diamond Tennis Bracelet
Ah, yes, because nothing says “I love you” like buying your significant other a $24,000 diamond bracelet from … Amazon.
5. Gold Ceramic Toilet
What are we doing here? Who needs a gold ceramic toilet? At over $9,000, this (tacky) bathroom fixture features a “360 degree spiral vortex flush.” Because for the rich, a regular flush just won’t do.
6. Modern Tiny House on Wheels
This three-bedroom home is bigger than some apartments, and we still don’t know if the $94,500 price tag is justified. It’s billed as eco-friendly and energy-efficient, and is probably serving as a glorified shed in a one percenter’s backyard right now.
7. Foosball Table
At over $8,000, this foosball table better be winning games for me. Something tells me that whoever is buying this also has a fully decked out game room and home theater in their mansion.
8. ‘The Way,’ by Gafur Timeryanov
“Wow!! Stunning! Super affordable!” says one Amazon shopper. We can hear the sarcasm. Though other sites list this painting as “A Way” instead of “The Way,” we know there’s absolutely no way we could afford this $32 million piece of art.
9. 1952 Topps Baseball Almost Complete Set
Sure, this might be a worthy investment for a baseball card collector, but for the rest of us? We’re going to pass on the $248,000 Amazon order, thanks. As one reviewer cheekily put it, “I thought about using the money to buy my first home and send my 2 children to college, but then I saw this ‘steal of a deal.'”
10. Full Body Massage Chair
A full body massage chair is nice and all, but for almost $3,000, it better make me feel like I’m floating on air.
11. Antique Sealed Bottles 1640-1900: And the Families that Owned Them
This hardcover book isn’t the most expensive thing on this list, but at $334, it’s still a significant investment. Especially when you consider that it’s a book about … old bottles?
