1. The Beatles- “Please Please Me” (1963, Gold and Black Parlophone Label)
The very first pressing of this album, with the gold and black label, is one of the most sought-after records in the world. Collectors prize it because so few original copies survive in good condition. Depending on condition, copies have sold for tens of thousands of dollars.
2. Elvis Presley- “Elvis Presley” (1956)
Elvis’s debut album on RCA Victor is a holy grail for collectors. Early pressings with certain label variations can fetch thousands of dollars.
3. Bob Dylan- “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan”
Before its official release, an early version of this album included four songs that were later pulled and replaced. Copies with the withdrawn tracks are extremely rare and have sold for over $30,000 at auction.
4. The Rolling Stones- “The Rolling Stones” (UK Decca Mono, 1964)
This debut album’s original UK pressing, especially copies with the rare unboxed Decca label, can be worth thousands of dollars. Condition matters a lot here, so a well-kept copy is worth far more than a scratched one.
5. Frank Wilson- “Do I Love You”
Only a couple of copies of this Motown single are known to exist, since Wilson pulled it from release almost as soon as it was pressed. One copy sold for over $25,000, making it one of the rarest soul records ever found.

6. David Bowie- “The Man Who Sold the World” (UK Original, Dress Cover)
The original UK release featured Bowie in a dress on the cover, which was quickly replaced due to controversy. Original copies with this artwork are rare and valuable, often selling for several thousand dollars.
7. Prince- “The Black Album”
Prince pulled this album from release just before its official launch in 1987, making the few promotional copies that slipped out extremely valuable. Surviving copies have sold for thousands of dollars.

9. The Velvet Underground & Nico
The debut album’s original cover featured a peelable banana sticker designed by Andy Warhol. Unpeeled copies, or ones where the peeling reveals the pink banana underneath, are especially valuable to collectors today.
10. Michael Jackson- “Thriller” (Promotional Picture Disc)
While standard copies of “Thriller” aren’t rare, special promotional picture discs from the original release are harder to find. These have sold for hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on condition and edition.
11. Sex Pistols- “God Save the Queen” (A&M Pressing)
This single was pulled almost immediately after release when A&M Records dropped the band, making surviving copies extremely rare. Only a handful are known to exist, and they’ve sold for tens of thousands of dollars.
12. Beatles- “Yesterday and Today” (Butcher Cover)
This controversial cover, showing the band in butcher smocks surrounded by raw meat and doll parts, was pulled almost immediately after release. Unpeeled “first state” copies, where the replacement cover was pasted over the original, are worth the most.

14. Wu-Tang Clan- “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin”
