Remember the Drake tune “Started From The Bottom Now We Here“?

If you don’t, the moral of the lyrics is that everyone has to start from the bottom, no matter the industry.

Entry-level is typically the bottom in any company – unless the organization has an internship program – so starting at the bottom is necessary to climb to the top.

However, there are some industries where the bottom is just plain awful, and the climb to the top could take decades.

Whether you’re graduating college this spring or embarking on a new career, this breakdown by WalletHub of the best and worst entry-level jobs for 2023 is a must-read.

“Graduation season is a time of big dreams and high pressure for soon-to-be job seekers across the country.

But finding employment is no small task, especially in the wake of everything that has happened in the last few years, where recent graduates face a far higher unemployment rate than the overall population.

In addition, many job-market entrants ultimately seek a career, not just a job.

They want the attractive combination of a high starting salary and high growth for compensation and responsibility. They also want stability while doing what they love.

The question is how to go about obtaining such things in this über-competitive job market.”

WalletHub evaluated 108 entry-level positions based on three key dimensions:

  • Immediate Opportunity
  • Growth Potential
  • Job Hazards

The data set ranges from average starting salary to projected job growth by 2029 to median tenure with an employer.
