Florida-based artist Noah Verrier’s hyper-realistic painting of an Uncrustables sandwich recently sold for almost $5,000 on eBay, capturing the attention of art collectors and fast-food fans alike. In case you were wondering, that’s the cost of more than 500 boxes of edible Uncrustables. But this isn’t Verrier’s first taste of success. Known for his nostalgic food-focused artwork, he’s made quite a name for himself — and not just with crustless sandwich art.

No, you can’t eat this sandwich. The $5,000 piece of art is a painting of an Uncrustables sammie, the beloved PB&J you can find in the freezer aisle, sans crust. Tallahassee-based artist Noah Verrier’s hyper-realistic portrayal of the crustless sandwich sold for a dollar short of $5,000 at an eBay auction. Bidders battled until the final price of $4,999 (the winner of the auction remained anonymous), but there’s still a chance to buy a print of the Uncrustables painting on Verrier’s eBay page.

Noah Verrier is a talented artist who specializes in turning everyday objects into art. From junk food to fruit, Verrier gives his subjects a lifelike touch, but his Uncrustables painting has truly taken the cake (or sandwich). His style leans into turning simple things into works of art, and whether it’s the philosophical undertones or the depicted foods that people love, it’s working for him. One of his Taco Bell paintings was even featured in the movie “Mean Girls.”

What Other Works Has the Artist Created?

From fast food depicted in a fancy way to mason jars filled with flowers or jelly beans, Verrier paints still-life scenes that bring comfort foods to life in remarkable detail. Some major fast-food chains, including Popeyes and Wendy’s, have commissioned Verrier to paint their iconic menu items; Verrier told WSB-TV that his commissioned work can now fetch “tens of thousands of dollars.” Meanwhile, his eBay page is filled with fun, everyday items presented as classic oil paintings. Case in point: One of his paintings depicts a bowl of Doritos beside a glass of red wine.

Why Did the Uncrustables Painting Sell for So Much?

You might be wondering: Why $5,000 for a PB&J painting? Seriously, a real-life box of them costs about $5, and you can actually eat them. Nevertheless, Verrier’s growing fame as an artist, paired with the iconic status of the Uncrustables sandwich, created the perfect recipe for success. Nostalgia, pop culture, and fine art all blended together. Can’t miss.

Verrier isn’t alone — artists around the world are using food as their canvas, celebrating everyday items through their work.
