10 Collectible ’90s Toys That Increased in Value

From video games and Tamagotchis to action figures and gag gifts, the ’90s were a decade of unforgettable toys and other fads (bring back flared jeans!). While you might think of these vintage toys as just nostalgic keepsakes, many have become highly collectible, with some fetching impressive prices. If you’ve held onto any of the following ’90s toys, you might be able to make a pretty penny from them.

1. Beanie Babies

Beanie Babies, the stuffed animals with heart-shaped tags, became a phenomenon in the ’90s, with parents and collectors lining up for hours (and even camping outside stores) to snag the latest releases. Rare versions like Princess the Bear and Peanut the Elephant have been known to sell for thousands on eBay (the most recent one sold for a whopping $5,000 in December 2024). Beanie Babies in mint condition and those still featuring their original price tags or with printing errors are most valuable.

2. Original Pokémon Cards

First edition Pokémon cards, like Charizard, Blastoise, and Pikachu, are considered ultra-rare among collectors and fans of the franchise. Mint-condition cards, especially those graded highly by professional services, can sell for thousands of dollars. Case in point: This 1999 Charizard card sold for $13,000 at auction. The Pokémon craze, coupled with the nostalgia of the TV show and video games, adds to their value.

3. Tamagotchis (First Generation)

These virtual pets were a must-have in the ‘90s, and first or second generation models in their original packaging can be very valuable. Rare editions, like the Devilgotchi or those with limited-color releases, can sell for hundreds, as evidenced by this first generation Tamagotchi from 1996 that’s listed for close to $200. Another Tamagotchi sold for over $300 at auction in February 2025. Their quirky charm and connection to early digital gaming make them a nostalgic keepsake for many.

4. Super Soakers

The original Super Soakers, especially early models like the CPS 2000 and Super Soaker 50, are also highly collectible. Taking us back to simpler times where pool parties and pizza rolls reigned supreme, these water guns can fetch impressive prices online (averaging about $300). If you own a Super Soaker that’s still in its original packaging it could go for even more, like this unopened one that’s listed for $400 on eBay.

5. Furbies

As one of the the first interactive robotic pets, the Furby was a ‘90s sensation. Though it didn’t do much aside from babble in its own language and wiggle its ears, first-generation Furbies in their original packaging, especially those featuring rare colors or limited editions, can sell for thousands of dollars. Most recently, a rare “Kid Cuisine” Furby sold for $2,500 on eBay. Their quirky personality and cultural impact make them a treasured collectible, with prices easily cruising into the thousands.

Original Power Rangers action figures are another hot commodity among collectors and gaming enthusiasts. These “mighty-morphing” figures, especially those with all their original accessories and packaging intact, can fetch high hundreds, like this vintage set that sold for $800 in January 2025. You can also find cheaper (albeit used) versions for about $100.

And it’s not just the discs that command top dollar — slammers, the metal or plastic pieces used to knock the pogs down, can also fetch high prices. Thanks to their nostalgic appeal, these toys have been known to sell for hundreds on resale sites like eBay and Etsy.

In particular, consoles featuring rare games (or should we say, gems) like “Super Mario 64,” “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,” and “GoldenEye 007” in their original packaging can sell for hundreds or even thousands. If you happen to own a sealed Super Smash Bros. game from 1999, you have a literal goldmine: A previous model sold for close to $19,000 on eBay.
